OpenStax: Free Peer-Reviewed College Textbooks Online and as PDF

OpenStax, a nonprofit initiative of Rice University, publishes peer-reviewed open textbooks that students can read online at no cost. Its current higher-education library says every OpenStax textbook is free online, available as a free PDF, regularly reviewed and updated, and has no expiration date. Most books can be read without creating an account, although some features and a small number of titles can require a free account. The free digital books are separate from optional paid products: low-cost print editions are sold, and OpenStax Assignable courseware starts at a per-student fee. This makes the core digital textbook library a strong genuinely free study resource, while instructors and students should distinguish the open books from optional paid courseware or print copies.
