GitHub Copilot Free: AI Coding Plan with No Credit Card Required

GitHub offers a permanent Copilot Free plan for individual developers who want AI coding assistance without starting a paid subscription. GitHub’s official pricing page lists the plan at $0 and explicitly says no credit card is required. The current Free plan includes 2,000 inline code completions per month, access to supported AI models, Copilot CLI, community support and limited chat and agent usage. Availability is for eligible individual developers and differs from organization-assigned Business or Enterprise seats. To start, open GitHub’s Copilot plans page while signed in to a personal GitHub account, choose the Free plan and follow the activation steps. Because it is an ongoing free tier rather than a temporary trial, there is no published expiry date.
