Datadog currently publishes a Free tier for Agent Observability aimed at teams evaluating or monitoring AI-agent and LLM workloads. On Datadog's official pricing page, the Free tier includes up to 40,000 LLM spans per month with 15-day trace retention, unlimited context, and unlimited evaluations, and Datadog explicitly says no credit card is required. An LLM span represents an individual model call inside an agent workflow, while surrounding tool or retrieval spans are not counted as LLM spans for this pricing unit. The free allowance can therefore be useful for prototypes, development, testing, and smaller agent workloads before a paid Agent Observability tier is necessary.
