Toronto TTC Monthly Fare Capping — Free Rides After 47 Paid Trips

Starting September 1, 2026, eligible TTC riders automatically ride free for the rest of a calendar month after 47 paid trips when consistently tapping the same eligible payment card or device.

The Toronto Transit Commission is launching monthly fare capping on September 1, 2026. Adult, Youth, Senior and Fair Pass customers who pay with an eligible PRESTO card, PRESTO in a mobile wallet, Interac Debit card, credit card or supported card in a mobile wallet will automatically ride free after reaching 47 paid TTC trips in the same calendar month. No separate enrollment or upfront monthly-pass purchase is required. Riders must tap the same card or the same mobile device consistently because trip counts are tied to that credential; using a physical bank card and its phone-wallet version can create separate counts. After reaching the cap, customers should keep tapping as usual for valid travel. TTC also states that the corresponding monthly-pass products are discontinued as of August 31, 2026.
