SWAYAM India: Free Online Courses, with Optional Paid Proctored Certificates

India’s SWAYAM platform offers hundreds of online courses free to learn, while optional certificates generally require a paid proctored exam.

SWAYAM is the Government of India’s national online learning platform and currently makes its course content available to learners free of cost. The platform spans university, postgraduate, engineering, school, management, teacher-training and other subjects through national coordinators including NPTEL, UGC, CEC, NCERT, NIOS, IGNOU and IIM Bangalore. Anyone may join an online course, subject to any recommended prerequisite knowledge. Free course access should not be confused with free certification: SWAYAM says learners who want a certificate must register for the relevant final proctored examination, which carries a fee, attend at a designated centre and meet the course’s certification criteria. Course schedules, exam charges and certificate rules can vary, so DealVorio recommends checking the specific course page before enrolling.
