Rio de Janeiro state's transport regulator AGETRANSP confirms that the metro Tarifa Social remains R$5 through April 11, 2027. The regulator states that the ordinary full metro fare remains R$7.90, so qualifying riders save R$2.90 per eligible trip. Current eligibility published by AGETRANSP requires an age between 5 and 64, declared monthly income of no more than R$3,205.20, and a Riocard Mais card registered to the Bilhete Único Intermunicipal programme and linked to the rider's own CPF. This is a targeted social fare rather than a universal metro discount. Riders should ensure their personal registration remains active and check Riocard/metro rules before travel because account eligibility and card status can affect whether the reduced fare is applied.
