Proton VPN Free: Unlimited Data on the Free Plan

Proton VPN's official Free plan is a strong no-cost option for users who need basic encrypted VPN access without a monthly data cap. Proton states that the free tier includes unlimited bandwidth and data, does not rely on privacy-invading advertising, and is intended to provide secure internet access without requiring users to move immediately to a paid plan.

The free tier is not identical to Proton VPN Plus. Paid plans provide broader server choice and additional premium capabilities, while the Free plan is designed around essential privacy and unrestricted data usage. Proton also publishes apps for common desktop and mobile platforms, making the offer useful for people who want a reputable free VPN rather than a short promotional trial.

Before installing, users should confirm that Proton VPN is available in their country and review local rules governing VPN use. Streaming access, advanced routing features and specific server locations should not be assumed from the free tier; check Proton's current comparison page for the exact feature set before relying on it for a particular use case.
