Microsoft Office 365 A1 Education: Free Web Office Apps for Eligible Students and Educators

Microsoft currently lists Office 365 A1 as a free education plan for eligible students and educators. The official Education page says people with a qualifying education email address can receive A1 at no cost and can keep using the Education plan while they remain enrolled in, or employed by, a qualified educational organization, subject to re-verification. The current A1 offer includes web-based versions of core Microsoft 365 apps such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, plus education collaboration capabilities tied to the institution’s setup. Microsoft separately sells A3 and higher education plans that add desktop applications and broader management/security features, so this DealVorio entry does not claim that the free A1 tier includes every paid Microsoft 365 capability. Availability and institution provisioning can differ, and a school may manage accounts centrally. Students should use the official eligibility flow and their education identity rather than third-party “free Office” download sites.
