Hong Kong Story: Free Permanent Exhibition with 2,800+ Objects

The Hong Kong Museum of History's renewed “Hong Kong Story” permanent exhibition has offered free admission since April 1, 2026. The official exhibition page describes a journey across six millennia with more than 2,800 objects and four major chapters. Displays cover ancient heritage, interaction between East and West, wartime experiences and Hong Kong's development into an international metropolis.

General admission to this permanent exhibition is free, but that does not automatically make every museum programme, special activity, shop item, guided service or nearby attraction free. Opening days, gallery access, crowd controls and maintenance closures can change.
