British Airways Club: Free Membership, Avios and Onboard Messaging

The British Airways Club is free to join and starts members at the Blue tier. Members can collect Avios on eligible British Airways and partner flights, hotel stays, car hire and participating everyday spending, then use available Avios toward flights, upgrades and other published rewards. British Airways also allows new members to claim eligible Avios for flights taken during the previous three months, subject to the programme rules.

A practical current benefit is free onboard Wi-Fi messaging for Club members on connected aircraft. The package covers text-based messaging applications and text-only email; images, videos and attachments are not included, and only one device can use the free messaging session. Members may also create a household account with up to six other people to pool Avios. Avios normally expire after three years without collecting, spending, buying or sharing activity. Reward seats, taxes, fees, aircraft connectivity and partner earning rates remain subject to availability and the current terms.
